Sarah Lockett, a North Devon-based artist, has won this year’s Art Prize. Her beautiful artwork, Looking to Appledore, will be on display at this year’s Festival and will be auctioned at the end of the 10 days. Bids can be made in the Silent Auction throughout the festival at the Info Desk with the winning bid announced on the final day. Profits will be shared between the artist and the Festival’s charity.

Sarah’s impressionist-style paintings capture the beauty and character of the coastline and countryside. Working in a loose, expressive style, her work reflects a deep connection to the landscapes that inspire her.

After a career in magazine journalism in London, Sarah began painting in the US, channelling homesickness for the North Devon coast into her first abstract seascape. Since moving to Devon in 2010, she has continued to evolve her self-taught practice, exhibiting in both the UK and the US, and undertaking commissions that celebrate personal and local stories.​​​
