We’ve all heard stories about smuggling but what really happened? How prevalent was it and who was involved? Local historian David Carter will be presenting his own research on the truth about smuggling in Appledore. He will also be talking about how common shipwrecks were in the age of sail, including the worst night in North Devon history when over one hundred men lost their lives in a single wreck.
NOTE: This event was Sold Out in St Mary’s Hall, so it has been moved to the Baptist Chapel, and further tickets are now available. Please note this new venue, but stewards will be on hand to direct you if necessary.
