Books & Bookshops

The Appledore Festival Bookshop. A special Waterstones Festival Bookshop opens throughout the Festival, featuring the books of authors giving talks. There will also be a chance to purchase special signed copies of Festival authors’ books to provide a wonderful souvenir of your visit to Appledore. This year we are delighted to confirm that we will be able to offer a wider variety of books relating to each of our authors and not just their most recent books.

Second Hand Book Shopping

Part of what makes any self-respecting book festival an overall success is the array of second-hand bookshops one can expect to find within easy walking distance of your festival venue. Appledore is no exception and now has three such outlets where you can rummage, browse and buy. These are:
BookRelief UK’s Appledore Bookshop
at 26 Market Street (hidden away, one street behind The Quay).
Uncle Wainwright’s Charity Shop
on The Quay.
Walter’s Emporium in Myrtle Street, opposite the Richmond Dry-Dock.

Local Book Shopping

Bideford’s independent bookshop is ‘Walter Henry’s’ established in 1998, they offer an unparalleled service – if they don’t have the book you are looking for in stock they can usually get it for you within 24-hours. They have access to over 200,000 titles on a next day ordering service.
“We offer an unparalleled service.”
