St. Mary’s Hall

St. Mary's Hall is an old school building clearly visible
from the road and from the large Churchfield Car Park beside
the river.
St. Mary’s Hall consists of three halls. The front hall is
the Appledore Book Festival Green Room where authors can
rest before and after their events. The middle Hall is the
location of the Appledore Festival Bookshop operated by
Walter Henry’s Bookshop of Bideford and The Bookshop Café.
The large hall is where events will take place. There is a
level access for wheelchairs at the rear of the building.

2. St. Mary’s Church

The Church stands beside St. Mary’s Hall but more set back
from the road. It is easily visible from the road.

3. British Legion Hall
Myrtle Street
Appledore
   
The British Legion Hall – also known as Appledore Hall
stands at the point where Newquay Street joins Myrtle
Street. The Hall is very slightly set back from the road but
clearly visible.
Nearest Parking – there is limited roadside parking on the
Quay and Myrtle Street, but visitors are advised if at all
possible to use the car parks in Odun Road and Churchfield.
Both involve a five-minute walk. The walk from Churchfield
is more level but the Odun Road car park involves a steep
walk.
4. The Beaver Inn
Irsha Street
Appledore
The Beaver stands on the river side of Irsha Street. It may
be reached by a five-minute walk from Churchfield Car Park.
Please note that Irsha Street is only just wide enough for a
single car and should not be used for traffic except to drop
off people with reduced mobility.
Nearest Parking
There is a car park off Torridge Road. Alternatively use
Churchfield Car Park.
5. The Blue Lights Hall
Vernons Lane
Appledore
 
The Blue Lights Hall is tucked away at the bottom of this
quaint narrow lane near the junction with Market Street. Car
access is difficult because these streets are narrow and
should only be attempted to drop off people with reduced
mobility. The nearest parking is in Churchfield Car Park and
a five minute walk is required.
6. The Baptist Chapel
Appledore
   
Appledore Baptist Chapel stands in the small square beside
the churchyard. The entrance from the square has three
steps. There is a disabled ramp at the entrance in Meeting
Street. The nearest parking is Churchfield Car Park.

From M5
Junction 27 head towards Barnstaple on the A361. At
Barnstaple follow signs for Bideford (A39). Take the third
exit at the roundabout over Bideford Bridge, then follow the
signs for Appledore. |
