Eating and drinking in Appledore is always a pleasure - no matter which of the many pubs or restaurants you choose to visit. Often a meal or a drink is enhanced by a sea view and the warm welcome normally accorded all visitors to Appledore by hosts who are anxious to please.

Top quality local produce is used whenever possible whether it be fish or meat or vegetables while there are several locally-brewed real ales to savour.

Two very popular watering holes can be found in Irsha Street - The Royal George and The Beaver Inn. Both overlook the estuary and both serve delicious food and well-kept beers. Bensons on The Quay Restaurant has a great motto: 'Fill us up and we open any time.' It also offers good quality food while Schooners, in Market Street, is a coffee shop/delicatessen with a penchant for excellent snack meals and cream teas. The Seagate Hotel, also on The Quay, provides an excellent mix of traditional fare and fine ales. Nearby, in Meeting Street, is the popular Champion of Wales pub and Sylvesters highly-rated fish and chip shop (why not eat your fish and chips on the Quay overlooking the river for that authentic Appledore outdoor eating experience?)

At the other end of The Quay there are even more choices. The Coach and Horses (Market Street) and The Royal (Bude Street) are cosy pubs that provide good food and a great pub atmosphere.

altIn Westward Ho! The Sand Cats restaurant, North Devon Award winners for 2007, serve up home-cooked food - from tasty snacks to full main meals. The Elizabethan has a reputation for good food and excellent ales.
