BROCHURE LAUNCH EVENT

A Brochure Launch event took place in Appledore on Saturday 19th June, when a fleet of Classic and Antique cars brought the brochures to Appledore.

The lucky drivers and children had a free ice-cream courtesy of Hockings, and there was an array of cakes, tea and champagne.

St. Mary’s Church

Address:

     Churchfield Road
     Appledore, EX39 1RL

Directions:

     Appledore's Parish Church of St Mary stands beside St. Mary’s Hall but is set back from the road.

     It is easily visible from the road and the nearby car park.

Nearest Parking:

     Street parking in Churchfield Road or Appledore Quay.

     Car parking in Churchfield Car Park (2 minutes walk).

 

Please note that the loud-speaker system in the church will be enhanced and improved for the 2010 season.

 

St. Mary’s Hall

Address:

     Churchfield Road

     Appledore, EX39 1RL

Directions:

     St. Mary's Hall is an old school building clearly visible from the road and from the main Car Park beside the river.

     The Book Festival Cafe is run from here for the duration of the Festival.

     There is a level access for wheelchairs at the rear of the building.

     Street parking in Churchfield Road or Appledore Quay.

     Car parking in Churchfield Car Park (2 minutes walk).

 

Baptist Chapel

Address:

     Meeting Street

     Appledore, EX39 1RJ

Directions:

     Appledore Baptist Chapel stands in the small square beside the churchyard.

     Public access is from the front entrance in Meeting Street, where there is a disabled ramp.

     Street parking in Churchfield Road or on Appledore Quay.

     Car parking in Churchfield Car Park (2 minutes walk).

 

Appledore Hall

Address:

     Myrtle Street

     Appledore, EX39 1PH

Directions:

     The 'Appledore Hall' at the bottom of the hill as you come into Appledore.

     It's on the right-hand side of the road next to the Appledore Social Club.

Nearest Parking:

     Street parking in Myrtle Street or Marine Parade.

     Car parking in Odun Road Car Park (5 minutes walk).

 

Blue Lights Hall

Address:

     Vernons Lane

     Appledore, EX39 1QU

Directions:

     The Blue Lights Hall is tucked away at the bottom of this quaint narrow lane near the junction with Market Street.

     Car access is not possible because these streets are too narrow.

     People with reduced mobility should be dropped off at the bottom of Vernons Lane where it meets Appledore Quay.

     Car parking in Churchfield Car Park (3 minutes walk).

 

Beaver Inn

Address:

     85 Irsha Street

     Appledore, EX39 1RY

Directions:

     The Beaver Inn is in Irsha Street and can be reached by a five minute walk from Churchfield Car Park.

     (Please note that Irsha Street is only just wide enough for a single car and should not be used for traffic

     except to drop off people with reduced mobility).

     Car Parking in Torridge Road Car Park (3 minutes walk), or Churchfield Car Park (5 minutes walk).

 

 

ABF Box Office at Docton Court Gallery

Although not a Festival venue, you may need to pick up pre-arranged tickets from here before parking your car.

From the Box Office it is a 5 minute walk to the main venues.

 

Address:

     2 Myrtle Street

     Appledore, EX39 1PH

Directions:

     Docton Court Gallery is at the bottom of the hill as you drive into Appledore.

     Look out for an Antique shop on your left hand side.

     The Box Office is two doors back from there, in an enclosed Courtyard.

 

 

Toilets

There are toilets at all the festival venues.

There are also public toilets in the Churchfield Car Park, including disabled toilet facilities.
